Ok, gang- here are my pics from the Metropolis Sci-Fi/Comics/Toy Show this weekend...
Kevin Willams and I left after work on Friday so we could be at the show first thing on Saturday morning, but most importantly so we could also have dinner at Lambert's Cafe- home of the throwed rolls on the way!
Got me a big ol' mug of sweet tea- I was a happy boy!
Kevin got him an order of hog jowls! If you haven't been here to eat, make the trip to Sikeston, MO- it's worth it! We do every trip to Metropolis now. (2305 E. Malone Sikeston, MO 63801

Got up early on Saturday and saw snow! We ate breakfast at the hotel and then headed out to do some Metropolis sightseeing in the snow. I love snow!
Always geek out everytime I come to Metropolis and see this sign!
Also geek out everytime I see the big Superman staue- this was the first time I'd seen it in the snow!
Hey, it's a tradition to do this everytime I visit Metropolis!
So is visiting the local Hallmark/drug store for some cool super-souvenirs!
And going to the Super-Museum run by Jim Hambrick.
A shot of The Man Of Steel in the snow outside the Super-museum.
The Metropolis Police were on hand. Apparently their cars are not invulnerable!
But they are way cool!
Hey- was this a warm welcome or what?! Ok, I've seen show organizer Timmy Gardner happier, but it was pretty early and really snowing! Got to meet Stephanie aka"Kryptonian" on the Metropolis boards(left) in person, and it's always good to see Cookie and Brian- they never seem to be having a bad time. Love their jackets!
The show floor- entrance.
Show floor- stage. This is where the celeb guests were set up.
Show floor from the stage. It really started to fill up around noon.
Some of the vendors were kind of scary.
As were some of the folks on the floor, too. (Just ask that lady!)
Lots of 501st members on hand. Some I had met in Memphis, Nashville, or Knoxville- others were new faces/characters. Saw a few jedi and rebels, too.
Next to Vader or Maul, I'd have to say this is my favorite sith- Asajj Ventress. This costume was great.
Chewbacca and Kevin Williams(Muley).
Look- it's a Linwok and a wookie!
Me and Master Yoda. I always figured I'd at least be taller than him.
Yoda gets a ride around the show floor.
A Vader supporter. (She was surrounded by troopers at gun point...)
MJ and BF.
The Bat-family and rogues gallery were well represented.
Poison Ivy. (Sorry I missed seeing her later as "slave-girl Leia"!)
Superboy and Batgirl do some shopping.
And of course "Alfred's Boss" from the Metropolis boards.
Me and Jeremy Bulloch/Boba Fett. Hard to believe the most ruthless bounty hunter in the galaxy is such a nice English gentleman.
Sarah Douglas/Ursa and Kevin. Again, to be such a villain on screen she's very gracious to her fans.
Even to "Bobcat" from the Metropolis boards!
The mayor of Metropolis, Billy McDaniel, and guests Tojo Yamamoto Jr., Jeremy Bulloch, Sarah Douglas, and show organizer Timmy Gardner.
Jeremy and his cake from the Paducah Imperials.
Mayor Billy McDaniel and me.
Americana and Super-Museum owner Jim Hambrick and me.
Speaking of which, Kevin and I left the show and headed over to Jim's Americana Museum just around the corner from the hotel.
First thing we saw as we walked into the gift shop- Superman! I bought a Smallville visiual guide book. Lots of great pics in it!
Then it was off to check out what was new inside the museum. They had finished a few displays and added a new Justice League section since we were there in June.
Outside I ran into another Memphian- Elvis!
Kevin fell for Elvis' favorite prank- "Pull The King's finger"!
Kev danced a number with the Blues Brothers (his favorite band) before we left.
After that we headed down the street to the Super-Museum.
That's where I shot the reference photo of Scott Cranford as Superman for this painting.
The museum had some new Superman Returns items inside.
Got another shot of the statue just before we left town. It had stopped snowing, but it felt like the temperature had dropped a good 10 degrees or more!
Also got to see some of the improvements the city had done on the community center. It really looks great. We've had a blast having the comics programming there the past couple years. Can't wait to be back this June. It's going to be one heck of a show! Dave and Micah will be artist guests and at the comics building, so stop on by and say hi!
