I had gotten him to sign my hardback Kingdom Come in Metropolis, and had him sign my single issues and TPB here, which made my back pack much lighter for the trip to Seattle! Did bring a few FF books to get signed at ECCC. Played an April Fools joke on Dave by telling him Mark wasn't signing anything that weekend. He fell for it big time! Heh, heh, heh!
Mark's been great at every show I've run into him at. If you get a chance to catch his panel I'd highly recommend catching it.
Big thanks to Jake Black for helping get Mark to Memphis, and Comics and Collectibles for being a sponsor.
Here are a few shots from MidSouthCon that weekend.
Mark's signing at the convention. (That's Eddy Zeno's brother Michael getting some books signed.)
The group of us after Mark's signing.
(L-R) Carlin Stuart (MSC program director), Martheus Antone Wade, Mark Waid, Lin Workman (me!), and Eddy Zeno (author- "Curt Swan: My Life In Comics").
Mark Waid and John Jackson Miller ("Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" writer and fromer Memphian.) on a writing comics panel.
Audience at that panel. (That's Adam Shaw, Kevin Williams, and Janet Wade on the back row.)
John Biefuss (Memphis Commercial Appeal newspaper), Mark Waid, and John Jackson Miller after their panel on getting your press release noticed by the press.
I think I was the only one there for that topic- everybody else wanted them to talk about writing comics!
Waid VS Wade! Mark and Martheus(Antone) discussed their upcoming family reunion.
Wade VS Workman! Antone and me in front of the Jetta/Bushi Tales table.
The Jetta/Bushi Tales table.
The BloodStream/Jetta/Bushi Tales panel. Adam Shaw (who did "BloodStream" for Image and back cover art for "The Waiting Place"), Antone and Janet Wade, and me/Lin.
The audience for our panel. We may can draw comics, but apparently can't draw a crowd!
That's Kevin Williams (editor on Jetta and Muley T. Mule creator), Penny Register Shaw (co-writer on BloodStreaw with husband Adam B. Shaw), and an actual audience member! Kev and Penny decided to sit out in the audience to make it look more like a crowd.
Speaking of crowds- here's the Incredible Brown family.
My neice Lindsay and one of her dealers room finds.
Princess Leia and Jengo Fett.
An oragami Yoda- too cool!
Star Wars 30th Anniversary panel- Tim Brown (Memphis FanForce president), John Jackson Miller (Knights of the Old Republic), and Jim Hall (former artist on X-Wing Rogue Squadron.)
Two of my airbrushed paintings in the art show.
Adam Shaw's painting- one of the covers to the Image comic "BloodStream".
Tim (Arthur Dent) and Traci Brown (Dark Phoenix) at the costume ball.
The Memphis Mafia at the MSCA 20th Anniversay panel.

Finally on Sunday night after the con a bunch of us went to Corky's for BBQ.
Ya can't come to Memphis without eating some barbeque!
Later some of us went to go catch TMNT- lots of fun!
