I wanted to thank you guys again for coming out to AIPX and giving your presentation. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I hope I didn't bug you guys too much, I wasn't trying to Monopolize your time. After Everyone left, I felt badly I had taken up as much of your time as I had. I'm not even a member of the Sequential Art Club (Probably obvious from my complete and total lack of knowledge of names in the industry). I just showed up because I recognized your name on the flyers at school and remembered enjoying your panel at Anizona.
I didn't have anything digital with me to show you before with my artwork. I was curious if you guys had any comments and suggestions about my coloring technique. This is definitely more for pinup style work then sequential art necessarily, but I still appreciate feedback.
I'm a pretty casual fan of comics. Pretty much anything I know was learned through Osmosis from my friends who ARE avid comic fans. The only two comic series I've ever even Tried to actively follow were the Dark Horse Alien comics and Archie Comic's Sonic the Hedgehog series back in the 90's when I was 13 *sigh*
I am, however, a nut for casual research (Wikipedia is by far my most visited website, I find it addicting). The books you suggested got me thinking about comics a bit (Especially web comics) so I decided to do a little preSearch on the topic. I spent the last 6 hours reading everything on Scott McCloud's page and I really like his ideas about the Infinite Canvas and of the anti conformity of it. Using his "Trails" as a pacing tool also fascinates me. It adds a Timing factor to comics that seemed difficult to convey in the traditional format. I am really looking forward to reading those books. Mr. McCloud seems like someone with a lot of interesting things to say. I hope they can get him to come out to AIPX when he passes through Arizona next year.
doing a quick proof read, I realized I think I accidentally made up a word. "PreSearch" I'll invent a quick little definition for it.
PreSearch (v) [pree-surch] - The act of researching a topic or concept, in preparation for or to better understand future research on the topic; "I preSearched geology online so I would understand a book about oil drilling."
