These are probably some of the earliest sketches ever done for Bushi Tales. These characters don't even have names. Although the beginnings of Kimiyo and her Juttesai are pretty evident. I've never shown these to anybody but Lin. I wonder if he remembers these? Enjoy.

These are real rough and very early in the process of crafting the book. I'll be posting some more finished drawings and "dishing" some inside info on why some of the decisions were made to keep and change things. At this stage of the game we didn't even have a working title. Just a rough idea.

LOL William Shatner announced Adam West and Burt Ward at an awards show on TVLand. Anyhow are those early designs for Hachiman? Or are they designs for another dude.

Yeah, or maybe some of the art you guys did on StarGodz. You had StarGodz stuff on the old site but I haven't seen any on since then.
SG even had two action figures that actaully had prototypes made but never went to production.

Here are some more concept art from the early days... Some of these are out of order. So I do have some much older stuff I'll be uploading later. Here's one of the earliest designs Lin and I both liked. As you can see Kimoyo was always there from the very beginning... An early drawing of Akiyo we both liked. The color version is one of the first colored pieces Lin did for BT... Here's Yatsu from the days when BT was going to be much more Manga influenced... Here are some of the monsters & villains. One will appear pretty close to his early designed look. The other will only be appearing a one-shot which will be published much later. If I can find time for it... Well that's it for this weeks installment. More to come next week.

Superman- Those early sketches were for Hachiman. I'll make a point to post my earliest Hachiman sketch next week if I can find it. Remind me about it so I don't forget.

Dave,
Those sketches are awesome! I am one of the lucky few to have actually seen you work on the BT before it was in production. They of course were all in B/W. But then to see them colored by Lin was a real treat.
You guys are Uber talented.
