I liked Melisa's fanart piece so much I became inspired to make my own. Mine will be in my own stile though so it won't be as cute as Melisa's but I hope it meets with Dave, Lin, and Micah's approval. I want my piece to represent what I like about Bushi tales. One of the things I like the most is the mixture of the Asian and American influences, in particular the combination of more traditional western creatures (such as the cyclops) and the Asian warriors. So I decided to take my own take on it. I decided I would do a Pinup of a pair of the girls (I still haven't decided which two yet though) fighting off something nasty. After some thought I decided to do a ghost. I created a ghost design during my breaks at work today and here is the final pencil rendering I did there. It's pretty rare I do pencil renderings so I only had my mechanical pencil with me. All things considered I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. Now that I have my "monster" design, next step is to plan out the overall staging of the pinup and pick which of the BT girls will be featured in the picture. Right now I'm thinking it will be either Yatsu and Kimoyo or Mikah and Akiyo. I'll see what I can get done tomorrow

I got to see the original art during FCBD. The design is really creepy. Looking forward to the final art. Knowing Notic it will rock!

I'm drawing this up one element at a time during breaks at work when I'm not too busy. Here is a sneak peak at the latest piece of the puzzle. This is my interpretation of Yatsu Hoshi. I couldn't really decide which way to go with the outfit, so I decided to make up something myself. The story of the picture is she was taken by surprise and as such was wearing comfortable clothes when it happened. I just invented an outfit as I drew and came up with a shortened Yukata (Half Gi, Half Yukata) with tights (Yes she's wearing pants!) Tabi (Japanese socks) and Zori (Japanese sandals). There is going to be another leading BT lady in this picture, but I haven't drawn her yet along with the ghost I posted in the first post (Not that exact image, but that same creature) and some other mean nastiness as well. Hopefully it will all come together the way I have it in my mind. Feel free to let me know what you think of my Yatsu. Hope she isn't too inaccurate for you all.

That's great- love the hair and action.
Can't tell you all how cool it is to see other folks wanting to draw our characters and create art inspired by our comic. It really is great to see.
Thanks!

I've been neglecting this and need to get back to work on it. Work has left me pretty fried and besides what I can convince myself to work on for my portfolio, I don't get much of anything done. Sorry about that! Hopefully I can get this done in the soonish future. Wish me luck! lol
