Transformers!!! So it has been nearly 2 weeks since the movie came out and I'll be the first to comment. I thought it was amazing! OK, so the plot wasn't that strong but I went to the see the movie for the action and I was not disappointed. There was also a good bit of comedy in the movie as well. Did anybody get the Armageddon joke? I have seen the movie 3 times since it came out, which is unusual for me to see a movie that many times in the theater, and I am not bored with it yet. I give the movie a WooHoo!!

I enjoyed it.
I wasn't into Transformers growing up- they were coming out about the time I was in jr/high school, and I had actually seen more Beast Wars cartoons than any of the other Transformers toons. I didn't know much going in about them going in other than they were big robots that could transform into vehicles, that Optimus Prime was a semi-truck, Autobots were the good guys, and Deceptacons were the bad guys- hey, I'd seen the toy commercials years ago.
That being said- giant robots fighting and transforming and fignting some more, hey- I dug it! I'll be buying the DVD when it comes out, and I'll probably go catch it again before it leaves the big screen.

It's been out for 2 weeks? sheesh, my sense of time is SOOO distorted right now! Overtime does that to you I guess. I have made a point to go see the major flicks that have come out this summer though.
I really enjoyed Transformers, It was exactly what I was expecting it to be plus more. I thought the writing was pretty funny all around and it was long enough that I really felt I got my money's worth.
The movie I was REALLY looking forward to though was Harry Potter. And again I was not disappointed! I really enjoyed this one, I thought it was a lot better then the last two, especially in the area of pacing. The last movie felt like a collection of popular scenes from the book all mushed together into a movie. This is probably the first movie that made me feel like I actually wanted to go out and buy the next book so I could know what happens next but I still haven't been able to convince myself. Did anyone else go see HP? What did you think of it?

Yes, I definitely felt I got my dollars worth with the movie. And although it was long it wasn't too long. About the "joke" I was referring to, it was while the Autobots were coming to earth in asteroid form and the one kid was running screaming "This is way better than Armageddon". The movie Armageddon was also directed by Micheal Bay. I thought it was really funny that he took a shot at himself like that.
We have always watched the Harry Potter movies on DVD. Although I really love the genre I have always felt they were more for kids. That seems really weird because I watch the Shrek movies in the theater and tons of Disney animated in the theater. But I have been watching the talk show interviews with the 3 stars of the movies and it seems that it is getting a little more mature as the characters also mature. So maybe we will have to check it out.
On a side note Notic I have put Bridge to Terabithia on my Netflicks as well as the Last Mimzy. If I remember you gave them both great reviews and I can't wait to watch them.

I must have missed that joke, that is pretty funney though.
The new Harry Potter is much darker and more mature then the previous movies. There is actually a fair amount of blood in the movie (well, at least for a HP movie) and I have to say it was just a good movie. Most of the 'kiddie' elements of Harry Potter have pretty much gone, and it's become more of an angsty teenage drama. It might serve you to watch the Goblet of Fire again before going into this one though, because this movie is more of a sequel to the last movie then you might expect, referring to events from it often.
As for the Last Mimzy, I think I was only talking about the previews. I never actually saw it, but it looked like something I would probably like. I'll probably buy it to watch it.
Bridge to Teribithia is still my favorite movie of the year (and one of my top 5 favorites of all time probably). I loved that movie, I hope you enjoy it too!

I thought it was kickass! And in anime news, Ghost In The Shell; Solid State Society is really good too... I'm a huge fan of the show, and the movie really moves the characters forward.
