Here's the card Nicki and I gave Antone and Janet for Baby Anakin- All the baby cards we saw last weekend sucked, so I just ended up drawing one. Oh, and here's the new art for the Star Wars FanForce I did. It'll be on a new banner and promo items (postcards/business cards) at MSC this month. Lin

Here are the final colored versions of the Zayne sketch artist Dean Zachary did for my girlfriend Nicki's sketchbook. She mentioned she'd love to see it colored some day. Well, when your girlfriend makes a comment like that you've got to scan that puppy into Photoshop and get busy! Blue lightsaber like the current comic- and yellow like his original one (her favorite). Here are the color flats and original sketch. You can check out more of Dean's work in last month's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic or at- www.deanzacharyart.com/Nicki is also the chapter rep for the local Star wars FanForce here in Memphis. We've been kicking around ideas for a new logo and promo art to use at conventions and promote the new SMT site she's working on for the club. So I came up with "ElVader"... Here is the line art, color flats, and one with a bit of work done. Below is the postcard and banner art. It'll be making it's con debut here in Memphis this weekend at Midsouthcon. MTFBWYA! Did not realize it's been so long since I've posted anything.
I finished a Harry Potter sketch for my girlfriend Nicki, and a couple Batman ones for me. Looking to sit down and do some more Star Wars sketching this weekend.

[image=http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g210/linworkman/batbomb.jpg] Did this after I re-watched the 60's movie.
[image=http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g210/linworkman/batdrkknight.jpg] Then I re-watched The Dark Knight.
[image=http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g210/linworkman/phantom2sc.jpg] Oh, and did this after I found a cool little book on movie monsters.
I'll be back next week with more.

I posted this minutes ago on the BT main page of the website and thought it would be relevant here as well. Hope you enjoy... So I’ve been looking back at a lot of sketches & designs for the Art of Bushi Tales book. In the process I have run across a couple of folders containing drawings spanning pretty much my whole life. I did not keep everything just a dozen or so that I thought reflected progress in thought or technique. I think my Mom has all the other stuff. Having been contacted recently about the possibility of during a few more Comic Book Art seminars I could not resist the urge to take a look at these early attempts at Comic Book art. Here is the first drawing I ever produced at age 5. It shows, very poorly, two members of the Rat Patrol pursuing several adversaries with their jeep mounted machine gun blazing. The Rat Patrol was a television series produced in the sixties about an elite team of commandos from the 111th Armor Recon during WWII. The series was in re-runs when I was a kid and it was a favorite of mine along with Emergency, Adventures of Superman, Batman, The Incredible Hulk, and The Six Million Dollar Man. Why was this the first thing I drew… I have no idea why. Maybe it’ll come to me one day. This is the first comic book page I drew. I was 12 or 13 and obsessed with a book on the history of comic books and I do not remember the title. That book featured quite a bit about Bill Everett and his creation of Namor the Sub-Mariner. I re-drew a page and turned it in as an art assignment in school. Subby has been a favorite of mine ever since. Here’s a drawing from my High School years. It’s a Science Club flyer. We watched the first Terminator movie for a recruitment meeting. This was the first time I felt I had decently drawn something in what I considered “Comic Book” style. And lastly, here’s a fairly recent drawing of Batman from my sketchbook. Every day I try to draw in the hopes I will master my craft. Maybe one day I will. Until then I’ll keep drawing. I hope you’ve enjoyed this little trip down memory lane. Bushi Tales news next week I promise. Remember… the best is yet to come.

Those are cool! I've been trying to find some old drawings of mine for the Sacred Silly book. I know I've got some Frankenstein drawings from when I was 4 or 5- maybe even 3, and some early comic pages I did back when I was in school. Hopefully I can dig those up.
Really think you should add that Rat Patrol sketch to the Art of BT book- that would be great!
BTW- I'll have to scan the new Goon sketch I got from Eric Powell on Friday. Nicki got one, too- and a kick-butt batman one from Bob while we were in Nashville.

Finished another sketch in Nicki's sketchbook this weekend. Her nephew was over and wanted to watch me draw something. Had some Vader reference, some pencils and markers, and an afternoon while we watched movies.
